Once again I'd like
to thank all who have helped us meet our membership goals. At this
time we are at about 62%, so at this writing we are staying ahead of our
quotas. I'd like to remind all that the cutoff for the Early Bird Dinner
is November 11. After that time we'll arrange a sign up sheet to be
kept at the canteen for anyone wishing to attend the dinner. The dinner will be on Saturday, December
12th. It gives me
a very good feeling to have all the support thus far. The number of
new members has been steady, as well as the number of those transferring
in to the Post. I'd like to remind all the new arrivals, we're
always looking for volunteers for the various post functions, so if you
have any special talents please let one of us know. We would be very
grateful for even the smallest amount of your time. Two of our
newest transferees have

Post and we will get them to Mark’s
family.
VFW District Commander Ken Greenlee has said he would like to help
Mark. As soon as the new posters are
printed, they will be sent out to all Posts in both Districts. I would like to thank both District
Commanders from the VFW and the American Legion 15th District of
Florida.
The Four Chaplains Memorial program is well underway; the printing
is about all there is to do. I am
still looking for some more volunteers in the Chaplain Corps.

Seven year old Mark Kisner had a
heart transplant on September 5th at the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. I am happy to report that all went well
for Mark. He is now in his fourth
week and doing just fine, although he is still in the critical stage. As I receive more news, I will pass it
along to everyone. On the 19th of
September, 2009 the 15th District held a meeting at Post 152 in Tampa, and they voted
to support this fundraiser for Mark.
They collected
$119.00. Also on September
22nd, 2009 the Polish
Legion of American Veteran's Post 196 donated $ 125.00. I thanked them for
their kindness.

Saturday, November 7th,
2009 at 6 p.m. The meal will be a
home cooked meatloaf dinner. The
Cost is $6.00. Please come out and
hear the young adults talk about their experience in Tallahassee at the Capital. They learned a lot about the process of
our government. This program has

The
Junior Auxiliary will be very busy in the coming months. On November 7th, 2009, we are invited
to The Elks to perform a skit and to sing the song God Bless America. We will be decorating and riding in a
float
for the Brooksville Christmas Parade, and of course, we will be helping to
hand out Poppies on Veteran’s Day.
We, also, will be helping out at the Christmas Party at the
Post. We are looking forward to all
our projects.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Carole
Babicz & Barb Leach
Our auxiliary will again
host the annual children's Christmas party. This year the theme of
the party will be a Christmas Carnival. It will be held on Sunday,
December 20, at 4:00 p.m. Our plan is to provide carnival type games,
pizza and drinks and of course Christmas would not be complete without
Santa and lots of gifts for the kids.
The Children and Youth
committee is hard at work trying to raise funds for this event, and we ask
the entire
Post 186 family to support
our fund- raising projects. Raffle tickets are available for the basket of
cheer which will be raffled off on November 29. We will again have
Bunco on Nov. 18, at 1:00 p.m.
The Christmas tree with
the names of needy children will be available for your selection for
gift giving on November 27. Please have your gifts under the post
Christmas tree by December 14.
If you have any local
family members that are in need of help during the holiday season please
let us know; we are a family here at Post 186, and families take care of
their own.
This is a large project
and volunteers are critical to its success. Please call Carole Babicz at 596-1015, or Barb Leach at
597-2885.
For God and Country,
Carole Babicz and
Barb Leach
